Nice and tense. Wish I cared about the characters.

4.5 ⭐️ Uhhh, this book was incredible! Super quick read! I enjoyed this concept — it was giving me hunger games/maze runner/somewhat SPN vibes. I loved it.

Not normally a fan of horror but I really enjoyed this book. Fast paced, interesting premise, and characters that were deep and easy to root for.

This book is entertaining in the same way a B horror movie is fun. A lot of the writing is incredibly cringe (ex: “…as they trudge back toward the camp, like the Axe Body Spray of aggression, stinging her nose and making her heart skitter with anxiety.”). The author tries to bring up different social issues in a way that feels like they’re trying to be deep but also pulling random issues out of a hat and shoving them into dialogue (a whole paragraph on some boomer being mad about people with food allergies??). I had fun reading this, but I also love B horror movies. It feels like a shallow combination of Squid Game and Cabin in the Woods. Overall not a great book, but a fun one if you can handle the cringe.
