I've read snippets of this over the years, but read through the entire poem for the first time today. It's beautiful and filled with grief and longing and stand-out passages that hit home even harder in their full context.

Tennyson’s talent is indisputable. However, I did not connect with the poem nor did it provoke a strong reaction from me. As such, I’m afraid I can not rate it highly.

I must confess that out of everything Tennyson has ever written, In Memoriam, to me, is the best. Truly wonderful.

Beautiful poem. I can definitely see why this made him Poet Laureate.
