i like this in-depth yet uncomplicated take on the most used app of devs and devs alike
Effective, but very dry.
I feel a bit bad giving only 3 stars — maybe dry is to be expected. But actually Git is pretty interesting! I consistently felt like the ideas could have been presented more elegantly and as part of a complete story. It’s a tough read but still the best resource I’ve found on Git (this is the second time I’ve read it, so obviously I can’t hate it too much).

The bulk of the value of this book is in the first 100-150 pages for the average Git user. It is a rather complete run through of Git commands in how they work complete with great diagrams showing what happens to your repository and file tree each time.
Not to say that the rest of the book was useless as it delved into special use cases, including on the server, and how to use advance tools. I'll come looking to this book rather than a generic Google search next time I need some help with Git.

Great book with almost everything you need to read about git
In my opinion this is the best introduction to Git I've seen, which also covers some more advanced areas as well
Pretty sure I read this 10 years ago when I first learned git, but either I never noticed it or the chapter wasn't there: I just found it really useful to go back and review this "Git internals" chapter 10 at the end. Wish I'd read this when I first started.
Exceptional introduction to Git. There's a reason this is linked on the main Git page. It's concise and sharp.
