Dark Water Daughter by H.M Long is an absolutely phenomenal read — epic fantasy — high seas adventure set in an amazing and unique world — absolutely everything about this book was fantastic — the world building was phenomenal, characters engaging — the magic, creatures and spiritual aspects of the book are so unique and fascinating — as well as complex — and it was SO well written — Dark Water Daughter is a fantasy readers dream — 3/4 of the books I own are pure fantasy and a good chunk of them are historical fantasy — I have some amazing authors works in my collection — and Dark Water Daughter belongs right there with the best of them — I won’t give you a rundown of it — purely because there is far too much going on to simplify it — and I wouldn’t be able to do it justice if I tried — but if you love fantasy, high seas adventure, pirates, weather witches — morally ambiguous characters , dark and mystical realms — complex magic, monsters, and a bit of a treasure hunt — a hint of budding romance — then you’ll love his book — can’t recommend it enough

Delightful nautical fantasy adventure. The worldbuilding is interesting, and I look forward to the next time these folks head out to sea.

Fun pirate fantasy with an interesting magic system, living ship spirits and a dark goal for the villain, and very slow burn romance hints. I thought I'd zip through it but the first half was slower to read - maybe more scene-setting than I'd wanted, but it paid off in the end. I'll read the second happily and probably more from this author.

It's one of the well written fantasies I've ever read. I so much love it when the writing compells me at the start of the story. It gives more volume towards the enjoyment overall at the end.

Let me tell you how beautifully the writing is done here
