Didn't realize this was YA until after I got sucked into it. Pretty good for YA. I was hovering between 3 and 4 stars.

Great premise. Mediocre execution. I would recommend to teens. For adults, I want something... with better foundations. Where did the information come from? How realistic are the turns of events? I want slightly more non-fiction elements to support the plot.

4.5 for the experience at large but rounded down because while I don’t mind the characters’ flaws or questionable decisions themselves as much as some people in the reviews (they’re ages 10-19 in an apocalyptic crisis yes they’re going to be dumb sometimes), I wish most of them had more positive/likable traits to balance them out and got tired of a lot of them by the end lol

I stopped reading at page 324 and instantly lost all respect for the author. Kelton is guilty of recording Alyssa in her room, she slaps him, then she KISSES him. ABSOLUTELY NOT. This was written by an immature man who does not understand or give credence to abuse and history of the degradation of women. This is NOT ok. How dare you perpetuate the lie that women are flattered by such disgusting behavior.

I didn’t love that it was YA. He had some disturbing things in it that were accurate to the real-life scenario but very dark for the age group it was written for. Overall it was a good read, but I didn’t love the emotions I felt while reading it.
