I'm normally not a fan of novellas, and this one turned out to be no different. I am, however, super excited to dive into the trilogy now, as it was really promising!

OHMYGARGOYLES, that was so good!

What I Loved: When I think of gargoyles, I tend to think of the creepy little pewter statues my husband was so fond of when we first met. Not anymore. Jas and Dez are anything but creepy in this intriguing new series about the ghoulish looking guardians.

Jas has spent the past three years trying to put Dez behind her. They used to be BGFs (Best Gargoyles Forever) and were even supposed to be mated, but then he left and broke her heart. No calls, no texts, no random fly-bys, nothing. When Dez returns and claims Jas as his own, she is not exactly ready to fly off to make little gargoyle babies. Dez will have to prove himself to Jas and he only has seven days to do it.

I loved how the "real" world and the spiritual realm, where evil formerly presided, are combined and we get to see humans interacting with the mythical creatures.

We glimpse a few of the characters from Book One - White Hot Kiss (2/2014), but this novella is a story all it's own.

What Left Me Wanting More: Nothing. It was the perfect segway into the next book.

Final Verdict: Exciting start to a new series! Aliens, Demigods, Nephilim and now Gargoyles...I'm pretty sure Jennifer L. Armentrout could write a book about spiders and find a way to make them swoonworthy. ;)

Jennifer puts an incredibly unique spin on a supernatural race that you don't read about very often- Gargoyles! I've been waiting for this series since she first announced it and I have to say, she did not disappoint!

I really enjoyed getting to know Jasmine and Dez and reading about the Wardens. My only complaint is it just wasn't long enough! The good thing is it left room to learn so much in White Hot Kiss: I can't wait to readier about the Wardens and get to know Layla, Zayne, and this mysterious Demon!

Bitter Sweet Love is the prequel novella to The Dark Elements series and it was a great glimpse into this new world. I was just drawn into this wonderful story and I just couldn’t get enough of it. It was just so easy to get lost in this great story and I just had so much fun getting to go along with these amazing characters. I can’t wait to see what’s next from this author.

I almost started White Hot Kiss before I realized there was a prequel novella on my Kindle. I couldn’t wait to get immersed in this unique world.

The world in Bitter Sweet Love was incredibly interesting. Gargoyles? Demons? What?! I’m in! I really liked Jasmine and I felt like she was a character I could relate to and understand. I understood her reservations about Dez, too.

Their adventure was short, but I loved it. It was full of awesome romance, adventure, and I learned a lot about the world and the way things were set up for the gargoyle race. I also enjoyed meeting Layla briefly, as I felt like that whole scene was a precursor to White Hot Kiss, where Layla is the main character.

I think I’m really going to like this series!

I do believe I'm going to like this series :) Review to come...

I have read the The dark elements a couple of times, just never this prequele. I have decided to read the spin off series and it sounded like a good idea to reread this series before that, And then the right way so here we are.

Bitter sweet love is a good introduction to the world, it refreshed all the lingo and the set up and i really liked the story off these two people, i knew some names but i don't really remember what their deal was and how they fit into the main story line but we will figure that out. I'm glad i read it, but it doesn't seem likely to reread it again.

I did really like seeing small Layla and Zayne togheter, that was really cute.
