An interesting look into classism in Chile. Insight into how domestic help is looked down on and unseen in a wealthy household. I didn't like or feel much for any of the characters. The middle got boring, but
The ending had a lot going on and was confusing. I obviously didn't like that the dog died, but it felt appropriately sad and meaningful to the themes of the book. The sex scene was so out of place and strange. It was very anticlimactic in that the story starts with her leading up to how Julia drowns, but we don't learn anything more in the end
I was intrigued enough to keep reading, but it wasn't my favorite

Interesting narrative structure. Someone telling a story through a one-way mirror, not sure if anybody is listening. Themes of grief, class, and privilege. Slow-paced, slow build, ambiguous ending.

This is not a traditional thriller, which makes it all the more interesting. Zeran takes the elements and pacing of a thriller and gives us an emotional story of a maid against the backdrop of classism and changing landscapes in Chile. I really enjoyed this, even though a part had me on the verge of tears.
