I feel like I am either too stupid or just too smart for this book, probably the former. 

I understood the themes, I just didn’t particularly find it as compelling as some reviews made it out to be. Could be that I have a hard time with characters that I feel put themselves into situations that they then refuse to remove themselves from.

Wow. The writing style is amazing. I got pulled into the story immediately. Lots of tears were shed, not gonna lie. I just cannot emotionally survive animal deaths, it breaks me.
