Livro incrível que mistura muito bem a biologia e a geologia como nunca encontrei. Tem alguns pequenos erros científicos e de tradução que chateiam um pouco num livro tão bom e completo, é só por isso que não leva 5 estrelas

New favorite book! This one was awesome - a quick read - 3 days but if the boys were at school would have been one.
Written in concise english, easy to understand, but with enough science backing to prove all the points and push you to expand your understanding of how earth works.
The earth is 4.5 BILLION years old. Dinosaurs were only around for 160 million yrs (4% or so). Humans don’t even rate on that scale yet. The earth has had MULTIPLE ice ages, several mass extinctions and depletions, and is not done yet. The earth is a growing living thing and will be here fixing itself long after humans are gone.
Got this one from the library, but will be buying it to add to my collection to reread once a year.

generally enjoyable and fun read! great summary of earth's geological history and a bit of life on earth. loses its sharpness when beginning to discuss hominids' evolution. fails to stick the landing at the end during his call to action against climate change, but it was an important point regardless.
due to the book not being about global warming and the anthropocene, he takes on too much at the end by trying to make an optimistic but urgent call for changing how we handle the environment. i get why he did it and it was as good as it could have been for the length, it just didn't feel as solid as the rest of the book.

Reading this and realising how absolutely, unnecessarily insignificant everything in our truly lives is. And, we're all gonna die!
