Great short story that sets the mood for the first novel in the series!! I can already tell my heart will be breaking more often than not. :(
Now onto the next book!

I read this novella after I read the first book, The Cup and the Prince. I think it could be read before or after the first book as there are no spoilers for the plot of the first book.
I enjoyed this back story about Zora and how she became the warrior we met in The Cup and the Prince. One thing I wasn't crazy about was the darkness in the deaths and sacrifices made by some of the characters. I was expecting some thing lighter for a novella with more focus on Zora's character development.
I like Zora even more after reading this and am definitely going to continue with this series.

Never read the other books, but enjoyed this. The romance was shit in my humble opinion, but the world and premise were very intruiging.

Good introduction to the story. Looking forward to seeing where Zora’s story goes

Thanks to the author for this free prequel.
I just finished reading "The Cup and the Prince" the first full book of this new series that I got the ARC from Netgalley.
This short story gives us an idea about what made Zora decided to become a teacher and how her relationship started with Seth. Here Zora is 16 years old, and when the story of "The Cup and the Prince" starts she is 17 years old, so it was a year after these events that she left her Valley and started her real adventures.
I love Day Leitao's style and I loved both her books and I'm gonna wait for the sequel of "Kingdom of Curses and Shadows".
