This was my first Taylor Jenkins Reid book and I loved it.
I wasn’t expecting to like Evelyn, but I loved her from the very moment she appeared in the story. From the title I imagined she was going to be portrayed in a negative way, but I loved how ordinary she was when first introduced wearing ‘big, chunky knit socks’. Very different to the glam Hollywood actress I was expecting.
I enjoyed trying to work out throughout the whole book why she’d picked Monique to tell her story. And didn’t guess it at all until it was finally being revealed.
I will be reading more from TJR.

This is the first book that’s made me cry in a long time.

I chose this book as a cleanse after all the heavy horror and I was so surprised. I knew it would be great, but I thought it would be ‘beach read, escapism’ great.

Exploring sexuality, desire and relationships in the 60/70/80s and what it really means to be a superstar, this book lowkey rocked my world.An important reminder that what you see is not always what is true !!!!

Heartbreaking, heartwarming and delicate.

5*!! I shall think about this for a while.
