I just couldn’t get into this. I’m not a big historical fiction person.
I am going to be making this book my personality from now on.
The seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo, is so much more than it at first seems, and whilst Evelyn is convinced she is the evil at the end of the story, she is so much more than that. I adore this woman, I support her wrongs and rights. Everything she did she did for love. My heart was aching for the love she shared with Celia, Harry and Connor.
Every character was written so beautifully and thoughtfully, everything that happened needed to happen. I can't describe how well put together this book is. I have not read any other works from Taylor Jenkins Reid, but if her other work is like this book, I'm going to be hoping right on that. So many beautiful quotes, that I will be making my entire personality now

Hands down one of my favorite books from TJR! A beautiful story about so many kinds of love with characters who are flawed and heroines all at the same time.

Meu primeiro contato com a escrita de Taylor Jenkins Reid foi neste livro. Não sei por onde os fãs recomendam iniciar no seu Reidverso e em suas outras obras, mas sinto que a leitura de "Evelyn Hugo" é extremamente convidativa e interessante em 90% do tempo.
A forma como a personagem de Evelyn é apresentada e desenvolvida é cativante, a cada marido, ou melhor, a cada parte, conhecemos uma faceta nova de Evelyn que complica mais sua personalidade, que a torna cheia de camadas e nuances.
A ambientação hollywoodiana em sua Golden age é magnífica. Ao descrever as gravações dos filmes e as cerimonias do Oscar, era uma cerejinha do bolo em achar que tudo aquilo era pura verdade. Todas as situações e personagens aqui retratados são bem críveis.
A alternancia de voz e ponto de vista, que se intercalam com as manchetes jornalísticas, deixa tudo bem dinâmico.
A revelação do motivo do contato de Evelyn com Monique é excelente, mas o finalzinho me deixou a desejar. Essa tendencia literária da metalinguagem do livro ser o livro (ou quase) do que se menciona na história é tão clichê e batido, ao meu ver pelo menos.
No todo, é uma leitura que recomendaria muito! Com certeza é um ótimo entretenimento e levanta muitas discussões, e muitas dessas, bem polemicas. E quem não ama uma polemica.
