The cover of this book was so pretty I picked it up for cheap at a used book store. Read through it tonight and gosh, I forgot how lovely short ghost stories are. "the ghost that didn't want to be a ghost" had me crying while hugging my cat while laughing all the same, and "the young irish lad from the hiring fair" was the perfect story to close out the collection with. Highly recommend if you love folk horror for youngin's (think Schwartz's Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark).

Another lovely collection of Scottish tales from this marvelous writer and illustrator team! Great fun to read in October, highly recommended as a family or school read-aloud.
