I didn't know that Joe Sugg released a graphic novel. Personally, I'm not a fan of youtuber books.
But I saw this in my library, read the synopsis and thought it was pretty cool. The storyline is simple to understand with a good message behind it. Nothing complex and I'm pleased that Joe made it pretty relatable for his readers.

Last book of the year! Unless I end up reading all of Kelk's book, doubtful but anyway.
True rating; 3.5 stars
A cute idea and an okay debut novel.
My biggest issue is that there is just the one name on the cover and his co-writer / editor, and all illustrator's are just giving credit inside under the title of 'Team Sugg'. I have not found another graphic novel in existence that does not at least credit the head illustrator on the cover as well.

This book did not impress me as much as I hoped. The beginning was okay, but the story sped up too fast. There were a lot of questions left unanswered unnecessarily. The characters were great except for the fact that they had very unrealistic reactions to the obstacles that were thrown towards them. The point of the story was very good, except I think it would be better as a longer novel instead of a graphic novel. I just thought it didn't work.
Beautiful artwork and great characters. I felt like the plot was rushed very slightly in places but really loved the book non the less!! Beautiful!!
Like anyone who feels they don't fit in, Evie dreams of a safe place. When times are tough, all she wants is a chance to escape from reality and be herself.
Unknown to Evie, her loving father has been working tirelessly to create a virtual world where she can get away, and life as she knows it is about to change forever. Could this be the perfect world Evie has longed for, or does her hardest journey still lie ahead?

This was a pretty good story. It moved pretty quickly, and it almost felt rushed. I'm not really sure how to explain it, but it kind of felt like a whole lot of stuff happened, yet at the same time, there wasn't enough.
I could have used a little more background on Evie's cousin and why she felt like she did. Clearly, she was feeling a little lost herself, just not the same as Evie, but I could have used some reasons why that happened. Rather than just having her be one way, then after following Evie, realizing the error of her ways and having a total 180 in attitude.
Evie was much stronger than she thought and the fact that she was able to overcome E.Scape and save herself was pretty awesome.

"He had gone, but I would carry him in my heart... whatever life had in store for me"
hmmmmm
My thoughts mainly are: where is the world-building? Why is there a sequel? What was happening? Started off well but fell flat for me really soon.

Trigger warnings: death of a parent, violence, blood, bullying.
The concept was kind of cool, but I really didn't like the art style (it was very...flat??) and there was insufficient time given to actually develop the characters which meant that I basically didn't really give a shit if they were injured/killed.
