The comic is about a girl called Evie. She is your usual teenage girl. Her life isn’t dreamy as we gather from the book. Her mother passed away a long time ago, her father is sick and she is invisible in school and only the bullies pay her any unwanted attention:/ But one day everything changes and Evie finds herself somewhere else, somewhere she can be safe and herself. But trouble finds you everywhere and our heroin has to deal with the consequences and save herself and her enemy from destruction.
Some of the parts of the story I have really enjoyed and found it really touching, and beautiful, however, most of the book was childish and I found that there wasn’t much of a character development at all, hence, it was difficult to connect with the characters. However, there were characters I clearly disliked and felt really strongly towards them and characters I pretty enjoyed getting to know.
As it is a comic book, the writing style was so different from the one we can see in books and honestly I found myself struggling to read it sometimes.I found that the storyline was lacking and was a bit flat. It was enjoyable, however, it felt a bit rushed, like everything happened so quickly and without so much of an explanation.
One of the things I loved in this book was the illustration. It was so beautifully done, I loved every page and spend ages to study the illustration, how Joe and his crew imagined this whole new world. And again, it was something new that we had a visual starting point to imagine and see what is happening in the story, not like when we are reading a book and we see the words and our mind creates its own unique images for the story. Here, it was given to us and I loved it. It was a big change but it made the comic really enjoyable.
Another thing I liked in this comic is the beginning, where Joe explains and introduces his team members and who helped him in creating this unique world. Another thing I liked is the thank you note both at the beginning and at the end of the book. I found it really sweet and nice.
Altogether, Username: Evie wasn’t a bad book, but it definitely had flaws here and there and I think it could have been explained a bit better at places. However, I found it to be a unique, dreamy story of a girl and her journey of finding herself. Altogether, I have enjoyed getting in the world of comics and see how it works. Now that I already have the second book, I am looking forward to lose myself in the continuing of the story.

i feel like ive betrayed him but this wasn’t that good. the set up was interesting and gripping to then follow up with a story that went way to fast and was solved within a page and fell super flat.

there didn’t feel like there was any struggle, it was just all so easy and frankly boring.

also i have to question how much credit joe deserves for this…

A great quick read☺️. I really loved all the art and the colour in this graphic novel and I really liked the storyline as well because it was like an escape.
Loved it x
