I had yet to look into any "Youtuber" books. I also dont usually pick up a graphic novel. But I wss interested in checking Joe Suggs graphic novel out. It was okay I guess I thought it better than it was. Obviously graphic noveks are quick to read. This one certainly ones and it ended quick. I know its like about not feeling like you fit in. It could have been a lot better ddveloped. But its my first graphic novel. I will read his second one.

definitely relying on some nostalgia for this rating, just an ok book in general, a fun story idea but it’s kind of all over the place in terms of plot. but wasn’t really hoping for quality, just a fun read.

Really easy book to read and I read it in just over an hour. Very different storyline which I’ve never read anything like before. Interested in reading the other 2 books in this series. I definitely think this is aimed at a much younger audience rather than a young adult.

A young girl named Evie, doesn’t fit in at school and cares for her dad at home. She comes home one day to find out he’s died and now moves in with her cousin who she doesn’t get on with. Evie logs onto her computer to find a video message her dad left her and created a virtual universe for her to escape to. Her cousin, Mallory, comes in looking for her and entered the virtual universe. Mallory causes mass distraction and Evie has to help save it. They do but the virtual universe is destroyed with any chances Evie had of seeing her dad again.

i feel like ive betrayed him but this wasn’t that good. the set up was interesting and gripping to then follow up with a story that went way to fast and was solved within a page and fell super flat.

there didn’t feel like there was any struggle, it was just all so easy and frankly boring.

also i have to question how much credit joe deserves for this…

For my first graphic novel this was great! I loved the storyline and how it deals with everyday problems and not forgetting the amazing illustrations!

Well this wasn't bad but it also wasn't blown away amazing!

Joe Sugg is one of the few youtubers I've consistently loved since the day I first subscribed. I never get tired of him and he continues to make me laugh. I was skeptical about picking this graphic novel up but I decided why not?! It'll be a fast read anyways.

I found the plot somewhat hard to follow at times. (A problem that tends to occur whenever I read a graphic novel.) I was surprised at how well flushed out each character was. They really all felt like they had purpose in the story. Plus the art is beautiful! Who knew Joe was a talented artist? He must have taken his a levels in art and the journaling he did as a kid payed off well too. (Hehehhe. Proud of that joke.)

This is exactly the sort of book I think an influencer would write. Basically it’s about the effects of influence with some minor nods to some of the issues teenagers face.

This is the first Graphic Novel I have read in quite a while. And I loved it, it was a great reintroduction to them. I love how bullying was a main aspect in this story, and how it takes you on a journey with Evie to help her find her confidence. Evie is the hero every bullied child/teen/person needs in their lives, I wish I had of found a book like this back when I was in high school, I definitely think reading Evie's story would have helped me feel not so alone.

ACTUAL RATING: 2.5 STARS.

OK.

.....rebooting sequence 3...2...1....

and now that didn't do shit but it was worth a try. That was what the main character Evie had to do in order to escape into a virtual world cerated by her father. Now let's go to the beginning......

this graphic novel was created by Joe Sugg. (hella famous youtuber from the UK).
so one day, he announces his new project: A GRAPHIC NOVEL.
and ofc, the world goes into uproar and excitement about this because most other book tubers are creating memoirs and biographies(because its a new thing now - if you're a famous youtuber, specifically vlogger, with more that a million subs, than you write a book.........about your life).

anyways, the excitement is real and then the book comes out.

and it's not what I expected.

well, kinda.

so here's the deal.

I don't read alot of graphic novels tbh. I like them, but I don't find or know alot of good ones.

what I expected from Joe was a cool kick ass virtual graphic novel but instead, I got something mediocre and disappointing.

PROS:

VISUAL ART - is pretty cool. It suited the book. Bright colors. Nice nice...
CONCEPT - i liked it. the aspect of escaping one's reality through a virtual world. has it been done before. yes. check out Ready Player One. but still, for a graphic novel, the idea is really interesting because it's in GRAPHIC NOVEL FORMAT.

CONS:

STORY/PACING - ok. if you want spectacular story and pacing - read THE SAGA SERIES. (reference) I found the pacing to be way too fast and lame. too fast. not enough character development. AT. ALL. actually, if there was even a remotely any character development at all.
WRITING/DIALOGUE - so like if you want easy chill lax dialogue, WELL HERE YOU GO! YOU HAVE IT. the dialogue, writing was so simple I felt it was cheating in way............if you even know what I mean.

prolly not, but just roll with it ;)

other than that......USERNAME: EVIE isn't something spectacular and kick ass to read. More like entreating and nice to look at......ooooohhh.....ahhhh..

you get the picture.
