This was low-key boring and with how many pages this book has, a second book isn’t really necessary in my opinion. The romance was a bit too insta-lovey for my liking and the romance itself didn’t feel genuine. Even though I have to say, I did like Cayden.

This is a really fun and entertaining book to read, but I will preface this review by saying that the writing style and structure of the book are quite simple.

We have a strong, independant FMC, Elowyn and a broody, protective MMC, Cayden, thow in a reluctant allies to lovers arc, with dragons and humorous side characters and I'm honestly sold.

The story is about Elowyn, the princess to a kingdom, who is on the run from her father the King and is trying to get back to her kingdom so that she can rescue her five dragons who are being held hostage by her father.
She teams up with Cayden, the Commander of the opposing kingdom's army, and they form a reluctant alliance to help achieve their mutual goal of bringing down Elowyn's dad.

What I enjoyed about the book was the banter and chemistry between the main characters, and amongst their friends, but will admit that the technical aspects of the plot and the 'heist' scene weren't all that well structured. This was a guilty pleasure read.

Omg I loved this book! I loved the whole storyline of Elowen being a lost princess who has dragons. She has been through so much with her terrible father and when she teams up with Cayden, the commander, to get her dragons back, their story takes a fun turn where they care and protect one another. I loved all the side characters in this book as well and thought they added a lot to the story. I loved Cayden so much. He was a great character with a dark backstory that helped him become who he is in this story with Elowen. I also really loved Elowen. She was a great main character and the drive and love she had to get her dragons back was inspiring. This book was beautifully done and I can’t wait to read the next one.

3.5 Stars: A great example of, I didn’t say it was good. I said I enjoyed it.

This is one of those books you just kinda have to passenger princess to read. Don’t look into the story or question things too much. If it didn’t have 4 chili peppers on romance.io I would have DNFed but the spice was nice!

Possible Spoilers Ahead…

What I liked: I loved Cayden and Elowen. The side characters were great. I liked the overall premise of a Princess on a mission to get her dragons back and lead her people. I liked the revenge. The book was very tropey, and I’m not ashamed to say I liked them all. The pacing was great and there was never a point where I was bored.

What I didn’t like: Someone said this reads like a teenager’s Wattpad and that is 100% accurate. Worse though is writing would skip as if describing scenes cut from a movie. Like there was no spatial awareness. A character would be grabbing a towel then next sentence they would be sitting on a couch. And this was done constantly! Other things like it wasn’t always clear who said what, and sometimes a reaction would come before whatever caused that reaction. It was sometimes confusing and hard to follow.

I wish there was more backstory for everything. Why were Caden’s parents in hiding? What was the war between kingdoms over? What did El do those 15 years hiding (she briefly mentioned she was an assassin too?)? What are the other kingdoms doing? Why did the gods leave? Who is capable of magic? Etc. This is where the very little world building comes from. So many questions.
