I first read this July 2024 and loved it! Gave it 4 stars. Re reading before the second and it falls a little more flat. There needs better transitions between scenes.

I don’t know where to begin with this, I don’t like to rate books so low as I know this is someone’s hard work. Personally, I just did not connect with this book at all. The plot seemed to always take a backseat to smut and then was all thrown in within the last couple of chapters. Not in an exciting way that most fantasy has in an ending but in the way that it’s almost as if the author forgot to pace plot lines and had to throw it all in at the end. Key details were missing such as why the war was happening in the first place, and the world building felt non-existent. I will say the few parts with the dragons; they were beautifully described and I loved them.
