A sweet (yet tragic) mystery. A fun adventure.

I needed something easy and distracting and this series certainly fits that bill. Amusing, but keep in mind the era in which it was written. You have to ignore the stereotype of the indigenous girl, poor Mrs. McGregor who seems just fine with having her missing husband move back in after 40 years, and whatever the problem with Violet is (is she ill?) that we constantly worry about her. I can see, however, how this series could still appeal to early readers.
Still thoroughly enjoying my trip down memory lane with the Alden children. The mysteries are predictable and uncomplicated but great for the age group.
