This is a book full of college and proposals. It seems to skim the surface of Anne's life more lightly than the first two books but also has the most drama! and intrigue! in the romance department.
As much as I adore Anne, it drives me up a wall how little she (an introspective dreamer) seems to know herself. I understand that her sense of romance and ideals runs away with her a bit, and makes the reality of things hard to accept but really? When something is obvious to everyone in the world expect to you, perhaps you ought to listen a bit.

Most of the story was a bit meh, but I'm a bit basic and just love the cozy study vibes, Gilbert, and Patty's Place. 📚🐾🧡

Re-read (after many years' hiatus) for book club and it totally held up for me. Things I did not remember: there are virtually no men in this book (even Gilbert, who is in fact dreamier than I remembered, has only, like, five lines) and the non-Gilbert ones who are there are mostly only there as placeholders to be pretty or provide comic relief or act as catalysts for the ladies' self-determination; whereas the cast of lady characters is big, complex, and glorious. Here for it.
It's funny and a total delight to re-read. Going to reread them all and also rewatch the wonderful CBC miniseries because Colleen Dewhurst will always be Marilla to me.

¿Puede haber algo más bonito que este libro? ¡No! (o bueno, quizá solo el primer libro).
