Dante Moretti, a former player, is the first openly gay GM in the NHL, although his sexuality has estranged him from his New York Italian parents he could not live with the lies any longer. Now he has joined the Chicago Rebels, working for the Chase sisters who inherited the franchise after the death of their father.
Cade Burnett is a young player for the Rebels, Dante can't believe his eyes when he sees Cade in a private club for gay men, especially since he thought the gorgeous guy was dating one of the Chase sisters. Desperate to avoid Cade accidentally outing himself, or being outed by one of the members or employees Dante whisks him away from the club, he tries to remain strong despite being propositioned by one of the hottest guys he's ever seen.
This is a super hot m/m romance between two of the sexiest guys, I enjoyed the push and pull of Dante being 'out' and Cade being unwilling to disappoint his father any further (Texas guys play football not hockey) by outing himself. Oh, did I mention that Dante can cook too?

i bet the author could’ve found someone who actually spoke italian to check if the terms they were using were right. god knows this book needed it. polpetto doesn’t exist. it’s POLPETTA, even if it’s referring to a male. the fact that it came up so often was so irritating, but the worst of all was BORCHIA. it doesn’t mean boss and stud, and it was terrible reading it, because it means like, the decoration piece, like the studs on belts. that was painful but aside from all of that italian nonsense it was a good romance i guess
Hidden romance, hot moments, sweet support. This book was an adorable journey for Dante and Cade. I enjoyed every moment and the further we get into the series the interactions between players as we share the same timeline.
Yeah, Meader did that. It was hot, hotter than my usual fare but that was acceptable. Being a novella the plot wasn't as developed as I'm used to but there was some groundwork in previous books in the series so I didn't feel totally lost.
So this being the first m/m romance I've read (from a traditional publisher) I can't say I found it read all that different from standard f/m romance. Which makes sense since the target audience is still women.
It was fast, fun and hot. And seriously, I'm hooked on this series. I'm outraged I have to wait until May for the last book. Outraged.

Such a fun (and SUPERRRR STEAMY) novella. Loved it!
Somehow sweet and intimately raw at the same time
I always get nervous to start a m/m story because, while I have always really liked them, I worry that my love of them puts me in a weird category of ogler. I never want to read a story that makes me feel like I’m just trying to fulfill some sort of fetish. I read romance for the romantic side of it, not exclusively for the sexiness of it.
Which leads me to why I truly loved this book. I would normally call this a sexy story but it felt WAY more than JUST sexy. There was a raw intimacy between Cade and Dante that I could actually FEEL when they were together. Were the sex scenes scorching, absolutely, but they were so much more than that. It honestly felt like I was witnessing the most sensual moments that two people could possibly share and I felt Dante and Cade’s connection...everywhere.
It’s quite obvious that I have a great affection for everything that Kate Meader writes so it seems redundant to repeat myself here but, for those of you who haven’t picked up a story from her, please do. I swear you won’t regret it.

“He loves you, and I know you love him, but there comes a time when a person realizes that respect for self overrides the feelings of others.”
I never thought a novella could give me ALL the FEELS that this one did. What a beautiful, heart wrenching, emotionally satisfying book! I laughed, and I definitely cried, and fell in love with Cadante, and all in a short time.
Superficially I have little reason to identify with these characters and the theme, but I absolutely did, because love and respect and acceptance of one’s true self are things we all have in common.
This series has one of the best supporting castes and this again comes through wonderfully here. I completely adore Violet Vasquez, and her friendship with Cade is one of the best parts of the book. And that epilogue, oh God! It was so unique, and had me tearing up!
