This is probably one of the most depraved and bizarre books I've ever read, which is definitely saying something. I feel like I could've used more background as to how the events that happened in Maeve's life or thoughts she had led her to doing certain actions in the book, because a lot of the actions she did just seemed so off the rails that I couldn't see any human reasoning behind it anymore. It kind of felt like the things she did were just like trying to get a reaction out of the reader rather than being authentic character development. However, this was still overall a really interesting/enjoyable read (though very dark and depraved).

Wow, what a wild ride. Predicted the ending, but it still had its fun twists and turns.

It has more debauchery than spice. You have been warned.

It is very graphic and not for the faint of heart or young readers!

Could recommend to horror fans and my fellow weird lit girls.

I had no idea I'd finish this book with tears in my eyes. It's not every day a gore-filled punch of a book leaves you with that impression, but here we are. Holy shit.... What a book.

I'm fairly pleased the author never really turned this into some kind of moral quandary or an opportunity to make some grandstanding point about how women "go crazy" and blah blah blah. Maeve is who she is, pretty naturally (as we're told), and Leede doesn't really make any points about that or turn it into a lesson. Refreshing!

While there's plenty of icky stuff throughout, be careful with Ch 39; Leede gets particularly graphic and I had to skim some of the bits. Despite the graphic nature, I was completely enthralled with Maeve and her strange little life.

I was absolutely rooting for
her and Gideon to ride off into the proverbial sunset as the weirdo little serial killers they are
and it was crushing to see how differently this turned out. Honestly I'd almost say this is a romance? Wrapped in the examination of someone's descent into absolute ferity?

Damn. What a book.
