I really liked the idea of the book it being set around a hetero-normative reality dating show. I think at times it felt like I loved the idea of the book but often felt like the writing didn’t live up to the potential and that the representation of mental health often fed into stereotypes - especially the portrayal of OCD.

While I was glad the characters got their happy ending it felt like as a reader we were robbed from seeing a proper conclusion to Dev and Charlie’s romance.

I really loved this one! The OCD rep really surprised me and is something I don’t see a lot in books especially done this well! So that made me really happy :] I loved all the rep in here honestly, and the character development is so well done. The chemistry between ALL the characters felt so real and nice <3 The plot was exactly the silly thing I was looking for in a romcom and it definitely delivered! I love seeing silly little queer romcoms! It makes me so so happy and it’s such a comfort read,  I really loved this book!

The way that Alison wrote about depression in this book hit close to home.

I was bored with the story and couldn't connect with the characters. Everything about the TV show annoyed me.

When is it going to be my turn to be happy???

My biggest issue with the book is that often times the characters felt like caricatures of "liberals who be doing too much." As a bisexual woman of color with clinical depression, severe anxiety, and body dismorphia, it got pretty exhausting to read about how hard it was to be queer, poc, and/or a woman and how hard it was to have mental health issues and not feel conventionally attractive. But for people who don't have that same experience as me, I can definitely see the value of explicating on those issues.

Overall, the plot was good and the characters were cute. I found it to be a really enjoyable read. Also
I really love how Ryan's charcter was used. It was a detail I was pleasantly surprised about. I was super prepared and excited for the evil ex boyfriend confrontation, but I like the reveal about him just being a guy who was trying his best in a dysfunctiona  relationship so much more.
