kind of hard to get through if only because the chapters are from a different characters pov each time. the worldbuilding and plot relationship seemed stilted too, but i get that it’s a tough type of story to write with breathing room.

i do appreciate the development of stevlands character—“i could scream, howl, smash things—“ that got me bitch! i found myself wanting more, at the end, even though this book took me a looong time to get through.

Really interesting read but you don't really get a chance to get to know any of the characters outside of Stevland, and you don't get to meet them until about a 1/3 of the way through. I wish there was more character development, but the book was more about the journey of generations instead of one character's journey, and overall I really enjoyed it.

Unlike others (mostly on Goodreads) who didn’t like the book, I actually liked the fact that we got glimpses/novellas of different times - it meant we understood the people a little better as we understood where they came from.

I had recently read The Ruins and Eden so I wasn’t looking for a plant horror book, which is good because this isn’t one. (And seems to be another reason people didn’t like it)

Also, some people seemed to be bored by the plant science - I actually loved it and I think having read it as an audiobook really helped.
