Only Dull People Are Brilliant at Breakfast is a slim, tongue-in-cheek collection of Oscar Wilde’s sharpest barbs and bons mots—undeniably clever, yes, but also occasionally insufferable in that very Wildean way. While I can acknowledge the sparkle in his wit, and some lines did manage to make me smirk (or at least exhale slightly harder than usual), I often found myself bristling at his arrogance or disagreeing entirely with the sentiment beneath the glitter. Wilde thrives on provocation, but sometimes the performance feels hollow—style over substance, cleverness for cleverness’ sake. That said, for fans of epigrammatic bravado and unapologetic flamboyance, this may well be a treasure trove.
