I often think, when reading things like this, where writers of a different era consider themselves to have figured out what life is all about and become certain in dictating statements about how they think one should look at and go about life – who among them would kill themselves if transported to the current year.

i read this years ago when i was sixteen and absolutely adored it as i was very enamored by oscar wilde's writing and fascinated with his life. rereading this now at eighteen, i'm afraid i didn't love this as thoroughly as i did. a lot of his musings did give me a laugh and had me loudly muttering 'so real' every now and then. overall, i still like this book enough but to say that it is my favorite of his works would be false

Amazing small book, was able to read this at a flea market while kids were screaming at me. This book is very inspiring and has a soft spot in my heart.
