I really loved this story of a mortician who works to fix up fallen soldiers so their families can see them looking good before burial. Zig is deeply flawed (or broken) but is a great person who wants to do the best he can to honor the dead. When Nola Brown come in neuter burial, he remembers her from when she was a girl the same age as his deceased daughter. He begins to suspect that this isn’t really her body and starts investigating

This is a true page turner. It might be Mr. Meltzer's best book ever. I have no excuse for not reading it before now, glad I finally did and waiting on the next installment from New Orleans!

if we were able to award 1/2 stars i would’ve given this 2.5. the concept was unique. there were times when i couldn’t put it down. but there were also times when i couldn’t stop checking the page number (hoping i was close to the end). there were parts that shocked me but also parts that bored me so badly i skipped over them. the whole magician thing maybe probably wasn’t necessary? zig & nola were interesting, but there were too many other characters and way too much else going on.

I freaking loved this book. Superb on all accounts. Zig and Nola are awesome characters. I never once got bored. If you haven't read this yet stop reading this review and go start now! It's that good.

THis one was average at best . I am not sure why I didn't really get into it. It just never seemed to grab my attention.
