This is the follow on from the ‘Orphan Black’ TV series from a few years back. There are clones, lots of them. I got into this because I kind of enjoyed the TV series, or at least the first three seasons, and because it’s part of an attempt to develop podcast serials being broadcast by Realm.com. It was good to re-meet some of the characters voiced by the excellent Tatiana Maslany. Great memories of Sarah, Cosima, Delphine, and of course the awesome soccer mom, Alison. On the negative side, it really didn’t add much to the original series except for another generation of clones. Enjoyable, but probably only for those who remember the TV series fondly.

A sensational new Clone Club tale, made even more appealing by Tatiana Maslany's narration. Let's hope there is more to come.

Heading more about sestra adventures was enticing but the change in format from tv to book didn't do the story justice. Also, having the author change from chapter to chapter created a strange narrative arc. The little science was non-existent or flimsy. This continuation focused much more on feelings and emotions and making sure everyone paired off in a happily ever after.

I started listening to this now that they're releasing it in podcast form, but I got engaged in the story enough to subscribe to Realm so I could finish it without waiting for weekly releases.

The eight-year time gap between the end of the series and this works to its advantage, particularly in how it lets Kira and Charlotte (now young adults) be actual characters. The time gap also lets the plot here stand on its own more (I'm glad I didn't need to remember the intricacies of the various factions and conspiracies from the show to appreciate this).

It's not perfect (in particular,
Spoilerthe American clones being a separate generation from the LEDAs felt unnecessary, and a bit weird given the difficulties everyone had reproducing the experiment on the show - why not just make them a group of self-aware LEDA clones?
), but neither was the original show, and on the whole I'd put it on par with the show's better seasons.

Overall, it's a worthy continuation and I'm excited to listen to season 2 later this year.

So fun to get back into the world of Orphan Black!
A really interesting story that takes place 8 years after the finale of the show - I really loved that Kira and Charlotte were more active characters in this since they're older now! I'm not sure how I feel about
the clone reveal
, though, since they did a lot of harm with that. But I'm curious how this will play out in the next season.
Also, I just love Tatiana Maslany's performance!

Fantastic. I love the creative new threat in this series. I'm also starting to finally believe that Delphine is really an ethicist. That sure stretched my suspension of disbelief muscles last season.

It was such a blast to come back to this world, and to hear Tatiana Maslany doing these characters again. Fingers crossed for another season!

I (re)watched all of Orphan Black this spring and summer and got so sucked up into the story - Tatiana Maslany's performances is so incredible and mindblowing.

This was the book I listened to on my drive to Yellowstone. I love the new characters; I loved catching up with the old. Tatiana's voices were again great (although she struggled with the male voices).
