I bought this book because it was on sale on amazon for the kindle. And I liked the cover (the one with the eye, not the one pictured here). It wasn't bad. But I don't have any desire to read the rest of the books in the series. The ending reminded me of Xmen and Fantastic 4 in some ways. I didn't like that the author would have thoughts written out and marked through. Maybe if it had only happened once or twice it wouldn't have been bad. But it was constant. The 'good guy' seems shady to me. The bad guys seems like he's hiding something and is going to win the 'freak' in the end. The whole love angle seemed to happen to fast to me.

This was good. I dont normally like this genre of book but I enjoyed it and would like to carry on with the series.

2.5 i enjoyed this book, the world building wasn’t too complicated but could also be developed more and most of the characters weren’t too bad. i didn’t love the writing style and a lot of this just felt dehumanizing when it came to juliette. warner’s character just made me so uncomfortable. juliette felt like she had a lack of personal opinions, she went from feeling only disgust towards something and then switched to lust or interest. i enjoy fantasy series and this was a decent one but some stuff just felt so uncomfortable

I love finally reading a series after putting it off for sososo long and it being way better than I expected! It's extremely satisfying... I don't really know how I feel about Juliette's character but I love Kenji and am trying to my best to start loving Warner :) The moment between Warner and Juliette thoooo ooof
Also the name Kenji constantly reminds of Kenshi from Mortal Kombat lmao

I've been seeing this series all over bookstagram during the pandemic and I finally got it. I must say that I enjoyed this book. It grabs your interest from the very first page. It's a very interesting way to capture Juliette's mind with a lot of reputation and strike throughs which does get a little annoying at times but as she finds herself, you see they gradually become less and less. This book kind of gave me some shadow and bone vibes in the best way. Adam reminds me of Mal, which could go either way but Warner is giving me serious Darkling vibes and Kenji kind of reminds me of Jesper.
So overall I enjoyed diving into this dystopian world and I'm curious to see how the story continues.
