4⭐️/ 3-4🌶️

This book was one that I was hoping would finally come together in answering some unanswered questions I had and more importantly wanting to see Thea and Julian getting their happily ever after! Like the previous books, this book became even more than I expected and while it wasn’t bad, it definitely had me trying to map out all the new details that kept coming through. Julian and Thea’s story has come a long way and this story set the stage of not only Thea becoming an actual Queen, but all the responsibilities with it among the already tall orders she had to deal with.

If I were dissect every single part of this book, this would be a long review. I feel like with each review I do of this series, I’m always saying the same thing, but honestly Julian and Thea were always coming up another obstacle along with the ones that were already trying to deal with. In some ways, I feel like so much was happening in this book that at times it was overwrite the amount of plot twists and new reveals namely with a certain court of magical creatures being revealed. Part of me feels like with the introduction of some new characters that MAYBE it could potentially spin off into a new series that connects the two together, but that was just my guess while reading. Anyways, a lot went down in this story and I’m a little confused as if this was truly the end of Julian and Thea’s story or if it was in fact the end of their series.

With everything that happened I was obviously intrigued and wanted to see how Thea and Julian would navigate their next steps as mates, Thea being Queen, and a surprise that changed Thea and Julian’s relationship in big ways. Another thing that caught me off guard was having this book told in multiple point of views. Getting to see Jaqueline and Lysander’s chapters gave me the chance to see what they were up to during the events of the book. In addition, I especially enjoyed seeing the tension between Lysander and Aurelia, the handmaiden tasked with protecting the Queens, including Thea. Even Jaqueline’s chapters gave more with her relationship to Camila which again was something unexpected from the last book but was built up more in this one.

The ending of this book had a lot going on that even when I thought it was all wrapped up nicely it was…SURPRISE! Not over by a long shot! Thus, introducing even more plot twists and some that maybe weren’t necessary as they kind of muddled altogether. The very ending of this book ended on a nice note for Thea and Julian, but I still feel like certain things were left open ended as to maybe the possibility of the series continuing or maybe a spin off series? I really don’t know. All this to say, this was a good book (don’t get me wrong), but I feel like for everything that’s happened in Thea and Julian’s story there was a lot and some unnecessary things that kind of took away from the main plot line. I liked Thea and Julian’s story and their connection, but I’m still feeling like this book missed something.

I wish the story wasn’t over. I need more Julien and Thea and there is too many loose ends

This last book in the series was much like the first three..a little slow at the beginning..and then in the last 25% of the book or so everything happens.  I was getting worried that this wasn’t the last book..because there was so much not settled..but, never fear it all comes to a resolution.   There is more to tell in this world, but this portion is done for now.
