adventurous

It is harder to follow a steller first book, but this one felt rushed in comparison to the adventure in the first. Whether it was beuas you cannot fit the whoe of new foreign customs into one book or that the pacing was off, maybe a little of both, I struggled to anchor myself to Lawernce's point of view. People were introduced and then dropped rather quucikly. It made me read more carefully but it did not make me feel invested.

Not as good as the first but still enjoyable.

The majority of this book is based at sea on a voyage to china, whilst things do still happen I found it lacking in as much adventure and excitement. However once they arrived in China things picked up. I'm pleased with how it ended and look forward to reading the next one soon.

So glad I finally picked up this series! They are incredibly fun, and a fantastic blend of fantasy and historical fiction.

Dragons and China

I throughly enjoyed this second novel in Novak’s Temeraire series. A bit slower overall than the first. But also very interesting to read the differing treatment of dragons.

I want a dragon who wants to be read to. Maximus makes me smile every time he enters the scene. These books are delightful.
