I enjoyed reading this book. A pretty quick read, and a great twist on vampires. I loved seeing the main character explore who she is now and determining what she could stomach (literately). Excited to see where the story will go in the next book.
Mallory is accidently turned into a vampire and then discovers that she cannot eat blood, as most vampires do. So she must find a subsitute. first she must find out what she can eat. No dairy or milk. They make her puke. Eventually, she ends up preparing and drinking lots of fruit and vege smoothies. And tries to solve murder crimes at the same time. These are cozy mysteries, not to be taken seriously. But short and fun to read.
I didnt like it at first, I thought it was too quick and no build up to her finding herself a vamp. But I did enjoy the twist to the story and the humor in the writing.
fast-paced
So much fun to read. The character is snark fun and reminds me of my favorite coworkers. The sidekicks are engaging and eccentric. I buzzed through it. The protagonist leaves her workaholic self behind and comes back a sassy siren.
This fits with the “better than I expected from Kindle Unlimited Books” category. I was happy to find a lighthearted read to enjoy this time of year. Continued this cozy series through all available books.
If this were a tv show I might watch the next episode but it did read like a tv series and it was a little corny, left a lot of loose ends to get you to read the next books but...honestly if I could veg and watch it maybe I would but I need a bit more from a book series than cute sorta almost funny one-lines and mysterious grumpy guys that are somehow kinda maybe hot too. All in all - meh.
