Way too many new characters, Lisbeth & Blomquist were essentially secondary characters. I was confused and annoyed with at least 3/4 of the book.

OK I will start my review in a similar way to my review of "Millenium 4" by the same author. As a stand alone thriller this is a decent and enjoyable book. For those wanting an extra Stieg Larsson book, you're going to be disappointed.

On the plus side we get to spend more time with the excellent characters that the original author created including the always amazing and uber cool Lisbeth Salander. Other positives include learning a bit more about Lisbeth's past, in my opinion it is better than the previous novel and the story threads were interesting and relevant.

On the down side I didn't feel that the two main story lines meshed together very well, some of the characters were a bit weak and forgettable and there wasn't the density of intricate plotting that I so loved in the original trilogy.

That said if you try and read with an open mind and without comparing all the time (difficult in my case) it is a good thriller and just about did enough to make me interested in a sequel.

4...Great read, even Lis showed up a couple times in her rare bad ass form...felt like this book could have been part of the last one...maybe as a lead up to the last one? Or at least that is what I'm hoping for...because something is missing from the novels...maybe it's the author? ALL in all good read and I will read the last one!

I REALLY liked the main plot of this installment in the series. I think without the familiar main characters I still would have been interested in the dilemma. I'm fascinated by the twin phenomenon and though some of the connections were predictable, it was still cool to watch them unravel the mystery. The Faria plot was somewhat unrelated but still a nice bit of awesome women being awesome.

This was better than "The Girl in the Spider's Web" but not as good as the original trilogy. The pacing was much better but still suffers from a lack of plot. There was perhaps too much going on at the beginning of the book that it took a while for the book to really get going. There was a lot of meandering between storylines and some of them could easily have been cut out or shortened.

Started this book well before Christmas and I’m only just finishing it now. The last 50 pages of action should have happened way sooner, as the first 350 pages were dull and extremely slow.

There was very little nuance in any of the text, everything was over-explained.

The completionist in me needs to read the 6th book to finish the series and be done with it, but the logical part of me really doesn’t want to start the last one.

Disappointing, because I absolutely loved Larsson’s first 3.
