Really 2.5. Listened to it, maybe I should've read it. It's short so that's good but I just didn't feel I got much from it.
Anne Bogel is the author of this book. She is also the creator of the podcast "What should I read next" which I really enjoy. This books is an overview of several ways to discover and understand one's personality type. She covers personality systems like the Enneagram, Myers-Briggs, Keirsey's Temperaments as well as a few others. She also writes about personality traits like introverts and extroverts. The books was much broader and more detailed then I was expecting. It appears this is a topic Bogel has spent a considerable amount of time researching and understanding. It was nice to have an overview of different personality methods in one place to use as a jumping off point to compare one to another. I appreciated the tips on how to understand the various systems and how to apply them.
Easy & insightful read! Truly helped clarify the purpose and benefits of various personality tests.
slow-paced
In Reading People, Bogel pulls from years of research and offers up her personal experiences with popular personality frameworks such as the Enneagram, Keirsey’s Temperaments, and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. Her book is an entertaining, astute, and actionable personality primer that can help us more fully understand how God has uniquely made us and those around us. Read my full review here:

For being part of the Reading People Launch Team, I received an advance copy from NetGalley.
It was a really quick read, and I really enjoyed it as I'm currently trying to figure out my own life. I learned it's really important to understand ourselves and why we may do the things we do. Author, Anne Bogel, writes about a number of personality tests we can take and what we can learn from them.
This book won't change your life by any means, but it will guide you and help us all understand why people are the way they are. We're wired differently, and that's okay.
There are strengths and opportunities in everyone, and we shouldn't fault ourselves for being different or having challenges others may not have. I am looking forward to receiving my print copy, I'm sure I'll go through it again and highlight quotes and lines that stick with me.
Pre-order your copy to get a couple bonuses! It releases in September.

This book was magical. I’ve definitely been a personality nerd for as long as I can remember, but this book brought it all full circle for me. Knowing I’m an ENFJ or an Enneagram 2 can ACTUALLY change my life for the better! And understanding OTHER PEOPLES personalities can make everyoneeeeee’s life better. Also Anne shares so many personal life stories in this book that I just wanna go on a walk around her neighborhood with her and be best friends! It always takes me forever to read non-fiction, but with this one I purposefully stretched it out because I never wanted it to end! Go get you a copy, friend!! You won’t regret it.
Great summary
I love learning more about myself, the good, the bad, and the ugly. I enjoyed reading summaries of the different personality inventories. I was already familiar with some and have found that knowledge to be useful in my life. This book has inspired me to check out the ones I have not yet explored.

Confessions time, when I first heard about this book and that it would cover personality, I was a bit skeptical. The book covers differences between extroverts and introverts, highly sensitive people, love languages, Kiersey's temperaments, Myers-Briggs, cognitive functioning, Strength's Finder, and Enneagram. My skepticism was - "isn't this information available separately? and free? and everywhere?" As a personality junkie, I'd explored these before and in detail (though not Enneagram). I honestly didn't see how having all of these measures in one place would be beneficial. I'm glad I gave this book a chance because I was pleasantly surprised.
It was so much fun to read chapter by chapter about different personality measures. The book is also formatted so that each measure builds on itself. I think, in many ways, it approached personality as easiest to most challenging paradigms. Anne's explanations are very clear and easy to follow. She also provides background information and relatable vignettes that address common misconceptions and issues. For example, she describes how people often mislabel themselves in Myers-Briggs.
In short, this book is really fun and so pretty, which is always a nice bonus. I think this is a nice introduction to personality for people who may not know where to start. I also think junkies will like seeing the measures next to each other - it's fun to compare and contrast in that way.

An excellent, easy-to-read overview of different ways of looking at personality, mindset, and one’s general approach to life. It covers the major ways of classifying one’s personality but urges the reader to look deeper and farther and make this overview applicable (and it also provides directions in which to look should the reader choose to do so). I found plenty of new material that was useful to me personally.
