I’m kind of really disappointed. I really liked the first book and have been anxiously awaiting this release. But it just felt off, the pacing was odd, and it felt like not much happened in 500+ pages.

So after my Fear the Flames reread I was excited for this book but realized I had issues with the pacing and writing style. This book was much improved in those areas. I enjoyed this one for the found family, banter, spice and that ending had me sobbing like a damn baby.

The first book in this series was good, don’t get me wrong, but it does not even compare to this one.
There were like three years between the first and second books, and wow was that time well spent. The love that Cayden has for Elowen is truly unbelievable and I cannot wait to see what happens in the next book. Please please don’t let there be another three years wait for the third book. I will be devastated.
