I came across this while browsing through Libby and decided to borrow it without reading the synopsis so I had absolutely no idea what it was even about or what to expect. Am I mad about it? Nope. Overall, it was pretty good. The characters were awesome and I laughed out loud more than a few times. I did think it was a little long and I found myself getting bored during the last 25% though. I am all about female empowerment and all that but I feel like this was a lot and almost trying too hard but also fell short in some ways. I listened to this on audio and loved the narration. I’m going to think on it for a couple days and maybe come back and update this review but for now it was just alright.

This book takes all of the trappings of menopause and the fear that surrounds it and turns it on its head. I recommend for all readers, but particularly for women. Men, be prepared to feel offended while reading. You can handle it.

3.75 stars for me.
There were parts of this book that I really loved: the friendships, the magic interwoven throughout the story, the female comradrie and the suspense. I didn't love the misandrist perspective strongly present throughout the whole story. The idea that ALL men are like the Epstein-esque monsters in the book, was too much for me and I couldn't get past it. I did enjoy the audiobook, January LaVoy did an incredible job narrating this story.

A beautiful book, who reflect quite admirably the experiences of middle-aged women. Some parts are quite horrifying, although it sadly depict nothing but reality (apart from some magic powers we wish we had), and others are powerful, adorable, funny, heartwarming and satisfying. The characters are incredibly well-written, and the story don't miss a beat.

Brilliantly written with a potent message, this is vicious and heavy-handed. Read with caution, but, if you want feminist just desserts, read on.
