I enjoyed the characters and not knowing what to expect. It felt like a cozy story about a merry band of adventurers. I would enjoy reading more about them.

I loved how this book ended! Great wrap up of the adventure and happy endings all around. That said, the pace was really slow for me and it just took me awhile to get into it. It just kind of plodded along at times. I ended up loving the characters and the story and I’m really glad I read it.

The first 200 pages felt a bit boring to me. While I usually don't mind slow storytelling here I found myself not interested enough to keep reading so I had to take multiple breaks. While we got told about the developing friendships we didn't really get to see them?
somehow I would have loved the story to be told even... slower?
Instead of another small town that the party stopped in it would have been great to have them sit around the fire and just share little tidbits of their lives. While we know the general outline of the characters they still feel a bit one dimensional, something thay could have been fixed with a bit more time spent on chracter development and less random side Quests?
that being said I really liked the underlying threads of friendships and the theme of making small changes in the world to make it a little bit better. The last 100 pages also really had me hooked. That's when everything finally clicked and the story made perfect sense.

Cute enough, and reliably predictable.
Nice, but honestly a bit boring. No intrigue, just cosiness.

While trying to avoid attention, Tao stumbles into an adventuring party’s quest and builds a found family along the way. This is charming and funny, with sweet characters. A low pick because it just reads like someone’s D&D campaign with slightly flat characters and underdeveloped side characters and elements of the story.
