I'd rather not speak about this one.

spicy book

Interesting stories. Bukowski is a weirdo and theses stories reflect exactly that. It's worth it if only to read something of
Bukowski's, to be able to recognize his style, his trademarks.

Negaleciau labiau dziaugtis, kad tai baigesi.

If Bukowski was around today, he'd be completely cancelled. It's strange that this fact is what draws me to his works, despite also loathing his misogyny. There's no disputing that his writing is excellent but sometimes I find myself baffled and in awe at how crudely he describes the world around him. Bukowski's rawness is, weirdly enough, completely refreshing from what I usually read.

This is a fun collection of short stories. If you like Bukowski this gives you another look into his strange mind, but he's definitely a better poet than he is a prose writer.

Some of the stories I'd give 4 stars to, while many I'd give only one, which is why I averaged it out at 2 stars. Collections of short stories are like that.

read this while reading brothers karamzov and the stranger. really just the perfect trifecta of white man literature. i loved this book and the stories. obviously bukowski is not a good man, but i enjoy how completely honest he is in every way; in his writing style, in what he chooses to right about. a lot of this book was vulgar and cruel and violent but there were also moments of tenderness that i was struck by (especially in ten jack-offs, which was my favourite story/chapter of the whole book). i'd probably give this four stars if not for the pedophile story which felt unnecessary and left a very bad taste in my mouth (it was actually difficult to finish the book after that one).
