Did not know this was part of a series when I started and was very confusing. Even though I do not know the characters and have to assume they are all in the previous books and therefore would have gotten to know the characters.
I'm not liking the main characters and the storyline keeps jumping not only perspectives but also the timeline.

This was a quick, fun, Christmassy novella featuring the entire Dempsey clan, but mainly Eli and Alex. And honestly it made me want to re-read the entire Hot in Chicago Series again. As it just reminded me how great this series is!

Perfect!
Exactly what I needed...a little bit of Dempsys to make my holiday complete. This is not the Hot in Chicago book to start with, but if you've read the series already (especially Alex and Eli and Gage and Brady's stories) you'll love it!

I liked it. It's absolutely not a standalone, so I would recommend at least reading Playing with Fire, which features Alex and Eli, because this novella is mostly about them. Since they were my favorite couple, I was pretty happy to spend a little more time with them.
Also, it's more of an extended epilogue than a full story, but that makes sense considering it began as a short story for Ms. Meader's Facebook group. It's not a huge time investment and it's a freebie, so I think it's worth the read, especially if you're a longtime fan. I enjoyed myself.
