Very much about the vibes more than a plot, while also feeling super nostalgic - because being a teenager sucks for everyone.

Illustrations, 5 stars. Story, 2 stars.
I loved the style of the comic. The story itself didn’t really move anywhere. I would have liked a little bit more, since nothing really seemed to be connected.
Still a fun read for one night.

This graphic novel deals with two sisters during the summer before their final year of high school. It follows them both as they develop relationships and navigate life before hitting adulthood. It's set vaguely in the 90s with references to music and technology during the time.
I wished I had enjoyed this more, but it was light on dialogue and it sometimes made it difficult to distinguish between characters because the art style was so similar. Summer Fires had a good premise and tried to show the growth of the weird period of still being a teen but not quite feeling like a kid anymore, but it fell flat for me.
