I'm a little sad because I just gave away my Judy Moody books from childhood. They were a hit though!

One of my favorite things about the Judy Moody series is the accurate female character representation. Judy is a funny and relatable character who has her own big feelings. She is confident in herself and creative. She wants to be a doctor, and she isn't afraid to be herself.

Probably one of the most important books of my childhood.

I've been seeing these books everywhere at my new job, and they looked like so much fun. They are! Judy is so much fun! I wish there were more girl characters, though.

My daughter really enjoyed this book...I thought it was okay not great. We will read more in the series.

I really enjoyed this adorable start to the series (as well as a few more that I've read). This is great for kids beginning to read chapter books. It's not overly difficult but has a few words that would be challenging. The best part though is the story. Everyone has days when they want to "ROAR" at someone in response. Everyone was in a secret club with a friend that sometimes only made sense to those in the club. The story is cute and quirky while still being very true to life. This is a series that you don't need to worry about your kids reading. For any beginning readers, this is an excellent start!

I would like to thank the publisher, author, and Netgalley for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Summary (CIP): Third grader Judy Moody is in a first-day-of-school bad mood until she gets an assignment to create a collage all about herself and begins creating her masterpiece, the Me collage.

Review: What I liked best about this book, is Judy's voice and attitude. She sounds a bit like a third grader I know. Some of her slang sayings I have never heard used, such as "rare", but her tendency to interpret a situation in the most dramatic terms feels very authentic. Judy is a likeable and relateable character. It is entertaining to watch how she deals with her "bad moods", she is creative and often exudes self-confidence. Thought the book looks rather substantial, the type font is large and the illustrations also fill pages to help along the early chapter book reader.

SLJ, in a positive review calls Juday "independent, feisty, and full of energy." Booklist remarks that the book is,"An entertaining story that portrays challenges and pleasures from a kid's perspective."
