This series was my espionage awakening

This book was much better than I had expected. It sounded kind of interesting when my friend told me about it so I decided I would give it a shot. She said it would be okay to read the first couple but I would have to stop after that as they aren't all out yet and they leave you hanging. However, I shouldn't have started reading them because now I will want to read them all.

I really enjoyed the storyline and how it was written. I also enjoyed the different parts of her life that came out throughout the entire book. I would have to say that the ending of the book had me a little worried, however, it came out okay and I am feeling alright with reading the other books in the series. I am also excited to read other books by Ally Carter and see how her writing is across the board. It was a quick easy read as it only took me three days to read it. Which is amazing for me. So any of you out there looking for a quick and easy read that is enjoyable and funny, this is the book for you to read.

pretty enjoyable but not life changing
adventurous funny lighthearted fast-paced

To be honest, I really liked the book. Even though some of the one-liners could be a bit tiring at times, most of them made me laugh, I liked the story and the characters and it made me want to read more... And having read the whole series (that's available) I can truthfully say it gets better as you go on.

I didn't care for the language usage in this book (very teenager-like), but I did enjoy the story. It started off a little slow, but had some exciting parts for sure.

"Something told me the universe couldn't handle both Morgan women weeping at the same time, so I sat there stoically, letting my mother be the weak one for a little while, taking my turn on duty."

this book. you guys, this book. i wasn't sure how to rate it, it was a 5-star read for me, but when i think of this tiny part that made me want to pull my hair off...i've decided to go for a 4.5. So, 4.5 stars it is—except, oh, gr doesn't have a .5 rating system! whatever.

to put it plainly, i enjoyed it more than i think i could. right after finishing [b:The Summer of Chasing Mermaids|22840182|The Summer of Chasing Mermaids|Sarah Ockler|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1406666121s/22840182.jpg|42396868], i figured i needed a light-hearted and fun read before diving into [b:Finnikin of the Rock|4932435|Finnikin of the Rock (Lumatere Chronicles, #1)|Melina Marchetta|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1346007613s/4932435.jpg|4998084]. after finishing [b:Some Kind of Perfect|26148181|Some Kind of Perfect (Calloway Sisters, #4.5; Addicted, #3.5)|Krista Ritchie|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1445205723s/26148181.jpg|46103345] a few weeks ago, i decided i could do without any pain for a little while. i was at the bookstore just yesterday, saw this series on the shelf, remembered that it was really hyped at some point because of some challenge on tumblr, then i was like, screw it i'm going to read this no one's stopping me. so i did, and i love it!

this book was hilarious. i read it when i was on the train on my way home and i couldn't keep a straight face throughout the whole journey. i can't even find the proper words to describe it but i love a good laugh and this book grant me more than one.

i love cammie and her friends (liz, bex and even macey.) i love the gallagher academy. honestly, i love anything spies, and add teenage girls who trained together and formed a sisterhood into the mix, i'm sold. i'd say this was the light read i needed and i'm happy i've chosen this book. i heard that this series gets better with each book and i'd be lying if i said i wasn't excited to read the rest of it.

Spoiler few things to note:

i. i was surprised we got a glimpse of cammie's mother at her most vulnerable—though cammie didn't approach her, it was heartbreaking to see her grieving on her own and for cammie to realize the why just...that was such a powerful/sad moment to witness.

ii. i was pulling my hair off at the anna vs. dillon's gang scene! i'm still angry and annoyed at how cammie didn't back her up. i know her reasons as to why and i found it a little bit selfish and i know, i know that people are allowed to be selfish sometimes but still (!!!!!!) that angers me more than ever and thank god liz called her out on it or else i would've done it myself.

Plot or Character Driven: Character

I can't wait to read the next book the moment I finished this. IT'S REALLY COOL. I now wanted to be a spy... and meet a cute guy like Josh.

If Hogwarts were a school for young spies instead of magic, it might look a lot like the Gallagher Academy for Exceptional Young Women. Fronting as a boarding school for bratty rich girls, it’s really a top-secret training school for spies. The school has hidden passageways, eccentric professors, and a rather unique curriculum, including classes in Covert Operations, Culture and Assimilation, and Protection and Enforcement (kind of like P.E., but way cooler). The heroine of the piece, Cammie “Chameleon” Morgan, is a sophomore and daughter to the headmistress, so naturally, she’s a whiz at spy stuff. When it comes to talking to guys, however, she’s clueless. So what does she do when she’s befriended by a sweet, handsome local boy? She can’t tell him anything about herself (that’s classified!), so she decides to make things up. Before long, the inevitable strains between her new boyfriend and schoolwork begin to form. Can her new beau handle the truth? With excellent world-building detail, sympathetic characters, and a strong heroine, the Gallagher Girls series makes an excellent choice for female teens looking for a new series. Recommended for Ages 13-15.
