"He thought he did not have a way out." I am nothing but the sobs fissuring my body, crying into Eris's shoulder, and it is just small and so, so dark here. "He thought he could not just run".

I don't know if this book should have been a standalone or if the duology is best enjoyed when binged back-to-back but overall this finale really underwhelmed me.
I LOVED Gearbreakers, the first book in this duology, but this one just felt like the same things were happening over and over again and I got really bored of it. Don't get me wrong, I love Zoe Hana Mikuta and all of the awful things she puts her characters through, but I think this could have been shorter or perhaps the whole series just should have been one long book. I understand why it was two, especially with the way book one ended it definitely built suspense and got me excited for this book, but like I said, I was just really disappointed.

Definitely think I should’ve read a physical copy instead of an audiobook, had a hard time at points understanding what was happening because of it but still was such a great book
