This book has a good twist after all. The characters are so many and have unique thoughts. The twists are so good and perfect. The plot so clear and emotional. Also, have unexpected villains.
Graphic: Animal death, Death, Murder

Minor: Abortion, Alcohol
I came across this book during a sale at the public library. I was pretty much just buying anything and everything and this book was one of them. I FELL IN LOVE. So much so, I went and bought the entire series. I couldn’t get enough. I never want it to end! Phenomenal book! Just enough intrigue, romance, mystery as fun! So perfectly balanced! Forever a favorite!

Book 2 in Lady Julia Grey series very enjoyable.
A bit slow at first but the last half moves very fast and was more exciting than most of the first book put together. I'm especially loving all of the Shakespeare quotes & references, and the Marches are as quirky and lovable as ever. I've been able to guess the murderer in both, but am always fully surprised by motives and other twists, which makes me very happy. Its been years since 500+ page books went by so fast for me. Onto the third!
Oh, yes, I was right. So far, the series is getting better as it goes along. The mystery, I found, was more gripping than the previous installment; I didn't guess the guilty party this time around. Even so, I found myself more engrossed with Nicholas Brisbane and his relationship with Lady Julia.
This installment had something the previous one lacked: more goings on. More things were happening. And there was more than one mystery, however small. Also, a most intriguing group of characters.
Looking forward to the third installment. I have no doubt I will do the same as I did with this one: Gobbling it up in two days time.

This is one of my favorite series ever. Julia and Brisbane are interesting and complex characters. Five months after their last mystery Brisbane and Julia are once again thrust together to solve a crime when a dinner guest turns up dead at her father's home. The mystery has twist and turns right up until the end that keep the reader guessing until the end. Along the way the relationship between Julia and Brisbane continues to be full of tension as Lady Julia asserts herself as thoroughly independent woman. I'm starting book three immediately!
2.5
Really don’t like Julia. She is kind of a Mary Sue. Brisbane is somewhat more reasonable. The books are random
But cozy
