This book follows Samara, Indian (wedding) photographer and child of a single, embassy father. Consequently, she hasn't had much time to settle everywhere or have a strong family bond with her dad. She's in Delhi for the wedding season with her dad when he has to move to Nigeria. This is what pushes her to stay at the Khannas, family friends of her father.
Sharav Khanna is the family head of the Khannas, in charge of both of his family and the family business. He is the serious and responsible one. He and Samara are exact opposites (she's nosy and cheerful). Though initially not into each other, he can't deny his attraction as she slowly helps his family. The problem? He's engaged.
This was a nice, lighthearted book. There were a couple of times where I laughed out loud. Samara and Sharav are loveable, as well as the rest of the Khanna family. I thought that the conflict extended longer than it should have, but it was enjoyable to read regardless.

A superb romcom that doesn't blow the Indian culture out of proportion. It was lovely to experience a beautifully written book that pays homage to the culture as well as depicting beautifully human characters with stories of their own beyond the main plot.
The characters are so lovely, and I even teared up a couple times for Samara. She had a magnificent strength of character.
If you liked this, and you like historical romance too, you might like "The Grand Sophy" by Georgette Heyer. Samara reminded me muchly of Sophy, even with the family background -- a girl who learnt to take care of herself, and also how to fix everyone else along the way.
The characters are so lovely, and I even teared up a couple times for Samara. She had a magnificent strength of character.

Technically speaking, there is much of an 'other woman' theme throughout the book because so much rests on the fact that Sharav is engaged, but I don't think there was true infidelity here, since they don't really indulge in a relationship while he's attached to Nonita. But it might bother some sticklers.
