I don’t read many thrillers so when I do I find them really exciting & hard to put down.

The first half of The Couple at no. 9 is a pacy page-turner, the premise is really spooky and you know the plot could go off in any number of different directions.

I found the second half slightly harder to get my head around & the pace is also a lot slower. There are so many characters (including double identities) to get a grasp on & by the end I found some of the scenarios rather unbelievable (specifically little Lorna accepting her change her mother without question).

However, the tension builds really well and some chapters had me almost hiding behind cushions (I’m a lightweight) especially when Daphne uses Sean to imitate Victor.

All in all a really gripping read & I look forward to reading more by Claire Douglas.

Set in a little village in England this tense, jaw-dropping, twisty mystery/thriller will leave you guessing at every turn. As someone who loves a good thriller especially with a setting like this one the unexpected twist in this story shocked me to the core. I love a book that leaves no stone unturned and every question answered and this book provided that.
This was my first book by Claire Douglas and I can't wait to see what else she does.
