A pretty solid murder mystery. Its not a singular story. I did enjoy the multiple POVs tying the story together. The little family plot was decent enough to keep me interested yet not overtly emotional to distract me. However, the actual plot devices were not novel so I did find it predictable yet the reveals were smoothly executed. Overall, an honest murder mystery that I had enjoyed after a long time

It took me 2 months to finish this one. (Granted I got side tracked, but still.)
I want to give this one more stars, but I guessed the *big plot twist* very early on. It was still a great book though.

I was stuck on this book for 6 weeks. It took me unusually long to finish, and I’m sure had my personality allow I would’ve dnf’d it at some point.
I feel very conflicted. From one hand, I constantly felt pulled back into this story of what is even going on with grandma, is there something shady she did? And who are all these new people popping up? It kept me on my toes and I did want to know who these random people coming up in the investigation were.
But on the other hand… there were too many threads for me that were left unfinished or felt like an afterthought,and I got disappointed multiple times when I hyped myself up about a new character emerging, their addition to the mystery and how they are involved, and then it turned out it was just a coincidence, almost.

This is one of my recent favorite thrillers. I enjoyed the queer element, the suspense, the cottage setting. It was quite dark and sad. Snowy the dog was a nice highlight. I feel that Saffi has a bit too much compassion for Daphne. She killed her real grandmother. How can she live in the cottage knowing that her grandmother died there in the kitchen? That would really freak me out. In terms of Victor- I was under the impression he impregnated several women with his own sperm? Did I get that wrong? If that is true, then I expected Lorna and Theo to set up one of those family tree accounts in order to uncover more siblings. Also, I think Rose should have gone to the police the minute she found that folder.....but I get it that she was scared and freaked out. Victor was a real creep. Did the book say that Caroline was one of his patients and then he forced her into marrying him? I hope I didn't over look that. Sometimes I get distracted with audio books.
