Things I liked:
- I was positively terrified. It really seemed like all that happened in the book could really happen irl.
-
I expected a somewhat happy ending and it was actually quite refreshing to not get one
Things I didn’t like:
- Frankly, Mae was quite an irritating main character. I had some hope because of all her little rebellions but ultimately she became so incredibly annoying and her pov by the end was just infuriating
-
The ‘plot twist’ about Kalden didn’t really make sense to me. There didn’t seem to be that much build up to it and I’m not sure if a reader could actually have guessed it? (which in my opinion makes it a bad twist) -
There were a lot of heavy topics which were dealt with too lightly (racism, non consensual porn videos and suicide, to mention only a few) and which were frankly quite awful experiences to read about
Overall I enjoyed the book …kind of. I certainly didn’t want to put it down, especially by the end. But also I found myself getting quite anxious at certain parts and having to put it down. Would recommend checking content warnings before reading.

Moderate: Gaslighting, Sexual content, and Suicide
