Audre Lorde has such a beautiful writing style. It's a great example of how to tackle big ideas while speaking from the heart. This book put me in such a pensive mental state. I can see how she has laid a lot of foundations for modern intersectional feminism.

Sister outsider truly is essential reading for feminists, especially white feminists seeking a deeper understanding of privilege & oppression. She really gives you the chance to confront your biases. This book left me feeling inspired and I know it’ll leave a lasting impact. Can’t wait till explore more of her work!!!

“Sister Outsider” is a collection of essays and speeches by Audre Lorde, a lauded poet who wrote about her experiences as a person of color, a lesbian, a cancer survivor, a mother, and a feminist. The collection includes 15 works written from 1976 to 1984 and delves into issues including systemic oppression, racism, misogyny, classism, ageism, and homophobia. Lorde also writes touchingly about her personal challenges dealing with inter-sectional identities, delivering jaw-dropping insights and staggering reflections on the sad state of empathy, respect, and love for our neighbors in America.
I adored reading this book and I know I will return to it for reminders on how to be a more empathetic human and a proactive ally to those our culture labels “outsiders.”
