First time reading Lorde’s writings beyond an out-of-context quote. Lots to process and unpack. Definitely want to read more of her work.
This was my first Audre Lorde and I listened to it as an audio book. Super clear, powerful and honest essays. Her thoughts are so clear, reasonable and I thought generous to other peoples perspectives, its hard to imagine anyone disagreeing with them - but Lorde does because she is wiser than me. Some of the essays will stick with me more than others, I loved hearing about her travel to Russia in particular. I think the next time I pick up Audre Lorde I'll do a physical book, even if it will take me a bit longer to get through because it deserves lots of highlights.
i can't believe i didn't read this sooner. although some of these articles are directed at conflicts within the Black community, Lorde poses challenges to white people and the academic community and addresses racial and class injustices that are still issues today. i found myself rereading several of the articles because they are so dense and thought-provoking.

My only quibble is that there are some arguments and points made that feel out of date, but that's what happens to a nonfiction book published almost 40 years ago.
